The Jack Wyatt Museum. 1897 Heintzman transposing piano (Toronto) The prominent Toronto, Canada firm of Heintzman & Co was one of a few that made pianos with transposing keyboards. The most famous user of a transposing keyboard was Irving Berlin, who learned to play by ear, and favored the black keys, playing mostly in F sharp major.. My current piano, as much as I love it, is now limiting my technical progress. So I'm thinking of getting a different one. I need advice on how to chose something appropriate between these models / brands: Young Chang, U-121. Kawai KX-21 Upright made in 2005. Yamaha M1 made in 1977 (barely used) Heintzman&Co from 1939.
