Ground source heat pumps SolarTherm UK

The ground source heat pump uses fluid to absorb heat from the ground. Using electricity, the fluid is compressed and raised to a higher temperature. Heat is sent to radiators or underfloor heating - the remainder is stored in a hot water cylinder. Stored hot water can then be used for showers, baths and taps.. In heating mode, the GSHP system reverses this process, removing heat from the ground (or another heat source) and transferring it into the building. GSHP systems are classified as renewable energy technologies because the resource being used is the constant temperature of the heat sink and source. GSHPs are also known as geo-exchange heat.

Ground-source heat-pump (GSHP) heating and cooling, often called a geo-exchange or geothermal system, is an efficient way to keep a house comfortable. The Environmental Protection Agency says a GSHP system can save 50 to 60 percent on a typical home heating bill. About 1 million GSHP systems are currently in use in the United States, and about.. A schematic diagram of the ground source heat pump operating in heating mode. 2.1. Ground-water heat pump (GWHP) Deep and shallow GE systems employ open loops to take subsurface water, use it, and then inject it back into the earth [71]. Ponds and wells are the two primary sources of groundwater that can be employed in heating and cooling.
