We found that spectral data from the abaxial surface of macadamia leaves had 6-14% lower accuracy than data from the adaxial surface in predicting foliar N, P and Ca concentrations. The upper epidermis and palisade parenchyma of macadamia leaves have a more-uniform cell arrangement than the lower epidermis and spongy parenchyma [ 48 , 49 ].
